KHS Secretariat General holds intellectual symposium entitled (Strategy to Counter Violent Extremism which Leads to Terrorism)

Under the auspices of the President of Shiite Endowment Diwan (SED), Dr. Haider H. Al-Shammari, the KHS Secretariat General in cooperation with the SED / Department of Reviving Husaini Rituals, held an intellectual symposium entitled (Strategy to Counter Violent Extremism which Leads to Terrorism).
The event took place at Al-Hamza Conference Hall in the holy Shrine institution, and was attended by the SED President, the KHS Secretary-General, Dr. Haider H. Al-Shammari, a number of members of the Board of Directors, representatives of governmental offices, besides some social, religious and academic personalities.
The symposium was started with reciting some verses of the Holy Quran, and reciting Fatiha and prayers of mercy for the martyrs, and was followed by a speech delivered by the SED President, in which he stated: “Our Islamic legacy is rich in values and principles that elevate human relations, which the West embraced as a charter, while regrettably, it's been neglected by some of those who claim to be Muslims”. “This noble principle”, he added, “was adopted over a thousand years ago when the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (AS) said: “People are of two kinds, either your brothers in faith or your equals in humanity.”, therefore, our religion has commanded us to coexist with individuals with whom we differ in religion as long as they do not harm or wrong us.
He also stated, "We must not overlook the role of the supreme religious authority, represented by His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani (May Allah Bless Him) in prohibiting the shedding of Iraqi blood, rejecting sectarianism, and counter terrorism and corruption, as well as what the SED and holy shrines are participating under the guidance of the supreme religious authority to maintain such events and activities that promote Iraqi moderation, cohesion, and unity.
Following that, the speech of Higher Commission of Countering Violent Extremism was delivered by Mr. Husain Al-Saa’idi, in which he highlighted that the strategy to counter violent extremism is complementary to the national security strategy formed in 2015 and the strategy for combating terrorism in pursuant with the government program, and explained its most important elements through cooperation with the international and regional community, as well as the call for the integration of extremism-fighting efforts".
After that, several speeches were delivered in the symposium and many papers were discussed, and it was concluded with honoring some participants with certificates of merit.
